Les différents types de climatisation
La climatisation seulement
Sommairement, la chaleur est extraite de l'air intérieur pour être renvoyée à l'extérieur.
L'option du système central est traitée dans notre article Installer la climatisation centrale chez soi. Elle n'est pas nécessairement possible dans toutes les habitations.
Le climatiseur mural repose sur une unité intérieure souvent fixée dans le haut d'un mur qui est reliée à un compresseur extérieur.
Pourquoi ce choix?
Son mode de fonctionnement permet de distribuer l’air frais uniformément à l’intérieur de la maison. C'est un type de climatisation peu énergivore. Si votre système de chauffage actuel vous convient, pourquoi payer davantage pour une thermopompe.
Thermopompe centrale ou murale?
Difficile de faire un choix, n’est-ce pas? Afin de vous éclairer, voici un court résumé de leurs principales caractéristiques.
La thermopompe murale
- Transfert la chaleur de l’extérieur vers l’intérieur;
- Sans conduit de ventilation;
- Silencieuse;
- Alimentation à l’air libre, donc installation facile;
- Réglage précis et rapide de la température.
La thermopompe centrale
- Transfert la chaleur de l’extérieur vers l’intérieur;
- Division en plusieurs systèmes indépendants permettant un contrôle individuel de la température dans différentes sections de l’habitation;
- Installation de conduits d’air, car la chaleur est transférée d’une zone à l’autre.

Comment choisir son climatiseur?
Pour trouver le bon climatiseur, renseignez-vous sur la capacité de refroidissement dont vous avez besoin. Cette dernière est directement liée à la superficie à couvrir et se calcule sous la forme de BTU (unité thermique britannique).
Soulignons que 20 BTU peut refroidir environ un pied carré. Prenez soin de bien évaluer cet élément, car si votre climatiseur est trop puissant, votre pièce se refroidira trop rapidement et le taux d’humidité sera plus élevé.
Au contraire, si votre climatiseur est trop faible, il devra fonctionner en permanence, ce qui finira par vous coûter très cher.
Autre facteur important: le taux de rendement écoénergétique (RES, SEER ou TRES). Celui-ci doit être le plus élevé possible afin de vous permettre de réduire vos dépenses en climatisation.
Le climatiseur portatif
Bien qu'il se fonde un peu mal dans le décor, ce type de climatiseur a l’avantage d’être mobile. C'est la solution de rechange si vos fenêtres ne permettent pas l’insertion d’un climatiseur.
À noter que les fenêtres à guillotine conviennent mieux à ce type de climatiseur, car elles permettent d’installer aisément le conduit.
Ses inconvénients
Malheureusement, le climatiseur portatif possède certains défauts dont les suivants :
- Il est bruyant (priorisez les modèles en bas de 50 décibels);
- Le tuyau d’évacuation émet de la chaleur, ce qui nuit à sa performance énergétique;
- La performance énergétique peut être affectée par le manque d’étanchéité de la fenêtre.
Attention de ne pas choisir un modèle trop puissant, car si l’air est rafraîchi trop rapidement et qu’il n’a pas circulé assez longtemps à l’intérieur de l’appareil, la rétention de l’humidité ne sera pas optimale. À titre indicatif, le taux idéal de rétention de l’humidité devrait se situer entre 20 et 30 litres par jour.
Le ventilo-convecteur
Brièvement, le ventilo-convecteur est un bloc de ventilation qui est capable de diffuser la chaleur produite par sa pompe. Il est fixé dans un mur ou dans un faux plafond.
Il peut également climatiser durant l’été à condition que sa pompe à chaleur soit réversible.
Comme ce type d’appareil requiert quelques travaux pour être installé, il vaut mieux le réserver aux constructions neuves. Également, les turbines situées à l’intérieur des ventilo-convecteurs peuvent être bruyantes.
